Tom has been using computers as long as he has been managing. He is more suspect of metrics used poorly than metrics not being used at all.
Tom wants to see his colleagues making good decisions. It hurts him when big plans go wrong. Tom knows wisdom when he sees it. He just wishes he could assemble the right people to make the right decision at the right time.
Tom spends most of his wiki time trying to accurately describe opportunities he sees for his company to improve. Often this includes his interpretation of trends in data, public and private. He is more likely to collect and organize positions he finds expressed in the federation than to draft something original himself. He sees his ability to assess complex situations as his most important contribution.
